Description
APPLE IPHONE 14 PRO OVERVIEW
The iPhone 14 Pro comes with a 6.1-inch ProMotion OLED display with 1-120Hz adaptive refresh rates, Dolby Vision, and a Face ID Dynamic Island that allows Apple to utilize an always-on display feature, which dims the lock screen similarly to an Apple Watch. The display has a peak brightness of up to 2,000 nits.
The iPhone 14 Pro brings camera improvements, utilizing a 1/1.3-inch 48MP quad-pixel sensor with new image signal processor, which uses pixel-binning to achieve much better light sensitivity in Night Mode. This Apple iPhone has Night mode, Slow Motion, Macro mode, Portrait mode with various portrait lighting modes like stage mono and low key mono, Photographic styles, and more.
The ultra-wide camera and 3X optical zoom telephoto camera still weigh in at 12MP, but there’s a new 2X telephoto camera mode with digital zoom, which crops from the quad-pixel sensor. The 3X optical zoom telephoto lens hasn’t scored any improvements. The front camera now has a wider, faster F1.9 aperture and autofocus that should bring better low-light selfies. There’s also a 3D LiDAR for depth control.
Cinematic mode has been improved. The iPhone 13 series had 1080p@30fps cinematic mode, but the iPhone 14 Pro now has a 4K@30fps cinematic mode, which creates portrait mode style videos. There’s a gimbal-like Action mode as well.
The iPhone 14 Pro gets Apple’s latest Bionic A16 chipset as well as 6GB of LPDDR5 RAM. The iPhone 14 Pro is available in 128, 256, 512, and 1024GB of native storage.
The Dynamic Island is used vastly throughout the interface of the latest Apple iPhone. Persistent notifications, alerts, navigation guidance, and other interface elements are shown on the Dynamic Island. Apple Pay, Face ID, and other third party camera apps also make use of the Dynamic Island.
Battery life is ensured by a 3,200mAh battery with fast charging. The iPhone 14 Pro uses Lightning cable but also comes with MagSafe wireless charging. Battery life is mostly comparable to the iPhone 13 Pro, though Always On Display is detrimental to it.
The iPhone 14 comes with the good ol’ Face ID module which supports Apple Pay. It is completely hidden within the Dynamic Island, and so are the TrueDepth camera, proximity sensor, and FaceTime selfie camera. The phone has a stainless steel frame with flat edges and a textured matte glass back. The phone has water and dust resistance. Audio playback is ensured by dual stereo speakers. The latest iPhone models are available in Space Black, Deep Purple, Silver, and Gold. There’s no Touch ID, only Face ID biometric authentication.
Emergency SOS is another interesting feature, which uses satellites to call or text emergency services. Of course, response times vary based on the user’s location. Emergency SOS can also help you show your location on Find My.
Finally, the Lighting port is staying and won’t be substituted for a USB Type-C one, at least on the iPhone 14 Pro. This rather big change for Apple will likely take place next year, when regulations will force the company to adopt the USB Type-C standard.
The iPhone 14 comes with iOS 16, which brings a customizable lockscreen, improvements to Face ID and Apple Pay, and more. Thus, you can create your own Always On Display, which will be uniquely composed with your wallpaper and widgets. Have in mind that Always On Display might worsen your battery life.
